Big Brother or Little--it's weirding me out

My cow orkers met up with a former cow orker for lunch recently. She works in one of those "chain" personal injury law firms. She told us -- get this -- that the main office put cameras to watch them work.

Not security cameras outside; not cameras on cashiers over cash registers like in Walmart, but cameras on their workspaces. These people are legal assistants--office workers--who do not handle cash or anything like that. They answer the phones and type documents. There's some folderal about a fink from the main office there that no one likes, and this is the only branch that has this set up. And the manager in another city will call and say, why aren't you at your desk?

I'd be outta there so fast my desk chair would still be spinning.

But without those cameras, we'd never get those youtube clips of people smashing computers, and stapling some guys tie to the desk.
