Being a goalie's mom can be hard :(

In the UP for a tournament against teams who've been playing together since they were babies (it's supposed to be a house tourney, but when there's nothing else to do for most of the year but play hockey, the house standard is high).

Hector's defence is letting him down and it's getting him down a little (in the game, not in general).

Typically at this level a goalie should expect to face 10-25 shots per game. Last night he faced 40 and let only 8 in (80% save rate, which is really good), this morning he let in 14 out of 36 -not so good This was against the host team, who just kept getting clean breakaways and after a few great saves, Hector was letting in some that he should have been able to save. He lost confidence and wasn't coming out far enough. It also didn't help anyone that they scored in the 29th second of the game -from a breakaway.

Sitting here on the bed in the hotel room killing the half hour before we go back to the rink for this aftenoon's game. At least now we won't be home too late tomorrow because we sure as heck won't be making the final.

The boys are having a blast, but I'm finding it hard to muster up enthusiasm to go back out there. Let's hope the coach's talk worked and lit the defence on fire.

It's been a good team bonding experience for them, but oh boy!
