Downloading tracks from YouTube

I need a small, simple, FREE application to rip YouTube videos as MP3s. Anyone have any suggestions?

This is to grab some tracks I need to learn by tomorrow night for a 4th of July gig!

I've never done this, but I've been told (by university IT support peeps) that there are applications that go with Firefox that can do just that. I've no idea what they are, nor have I ever used them.

There are loads of ways.

1. Use vDownloader or similar (free).

2. Watch the video, it'll be in your temp internet files folder, copy'n'paste it somewhere else then use Leawo MP4 converter (free) or similar to produce your MP3.

3. Use Free Sound Recorder (free) to record it 'live' just like you did with a cassette recorder and mic in the old days.

4. Use one of the suggestions from the people below.

i d/l the video with youtubekick

then i extract the audio with AoA audio extractor.

I like http://www.hddownloader.com/ it lets you copy the video or just the mp3 and you can choose the quality: 128, 192, 256

Be sure to put the simple URL in, sometimes it can't find the track if there is too much &=featured&=embedded&=yomama

Thanks to all. Cnet (whom I trust to download apps from) had VDownloader & it does a beautiful job of exactly what I needed.

I'll let y'all know how the gig goes.

For future reference Flint, you might also look into Freemake Video Downloader, and Freemake Video Converter. Pretty handy.

Yes, there are; but why just download the MP3 in the video when you can easily download the entire video with the MP4 Downloader extension for Firefox.

I use it all the time.
