Half-Time Shows?
I know one person who likes half-time shows. Do you? They always seem so 1955, women with low self-esteem marching in circles painted on smiles weak pop music... I watched Penn State blow their game through poor coaching yesterday while riding my bike trainer. I couldn't hear the tube because of the roller noise but I watched the entire half-time program, hilarious. Not to stereotype, but exactly where did they find a latina pop singer who can't dance?

Was that Britney? I thought it was with N*SYNC during the Super Bowl last year or two years ago.

I have to admit a fondness for the traditional style halftime show ... you know, marching band that's at least a quarter-tone out of tune because it's difficult as hell to keep the instrument warm enough to play on key, attempting music that's difficult enough when you're sitting down and damn near impossible when you're stomping around in complex patterns on a football field.
In case you were wondering, yes, I was in the marching band ... Now as far as the major was once a big star rock extravaganza halftime shows go... yeah. They leave a LOT to be desired. As they get bigger and bigger, seemingly in an attempt to rival the last Olympic Opening Ceremony, they become more and more comical. My favorite thing about halftime (other than the built in time for emptying one's bladder), particularly for the stupidbowl, is the commercials. The game is soooo likely to be an imbalanced blowout that my primary interest is in seeing what companies are paying a half-million for. I'm anxious to see what the e-trade monkey will be up to this year. Bring back the Bud Bowl!!!

I remember the halftime show during the Super Bowl three years ago...Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Stevie Wonder, IIRC...and it was good, until Gloria Estefan came on.

I do enjoy watching a cool and funky marching band like Florida A&M get after it.
