Mandrake Linux help
I have Mandrake Linux running on an old box I got from Dagney. After installing, I have root access locally, but I cannot access the machine from my LAN. It wants a password.
Where do I find/change this feature? I don't see anything in the documentation about it. Brian

You'll need to telnet/ssh/rlogin in as a regular user and then use the following command to obtain a full root shell:

Didn't work. My friend and I finally figured out the problem lay with Samba and a minor misconfiguration in there
I can now telnet into my new Linux machine. Now what? I still know nothing about Linux... ![]() Time to put away the toy and read the damn manual! Brian

I don't know how much you've looked into discussion groups about linux but when I first started out I learned a crap load from them. The one I'm sticking with I decided is Linux Questions .
