It's funny, because most original bands that are serious about their music also put an age limit on who they're looking for. If you're gonna be the next Good Charlotte*, you have to have guys that look 25 and can take their shirts off and stuff.

These guys are like 25 but it seems they don't care (or at least their manager doesn't care) that I'm 39, if I'm sincerely all about the songs. And I am. And this stuff is so up my alley, it's just not funny. I would be perfect for them and they would be perfect for me.

So now the next question is: what do you think of their commercial potential?

The manager, who also produced this stuff, thinks they will be signed Real Soon Now. Which is fine, except that this is the same attitude of every manager for every act trying to go the pro route; and getting signed means very little in itself.

Sounds really promising. So, why are they in search of a bass player? Did they lose their existing bass player, or are they just lining up a backing band for the crucial pair shown in the picture for playing out purposes?

They had another guy who left... don't know why.

It turns out they're in Harrisburg, two miles away from where I grew up... weirdity.

The manager says he's told them to share songwriting credits with any other band members, and that's really the key to the whole thing I think. At this time in history, even if a band gets signed, there's still only a one in ten chance that there's any money in it for them. From the experiences of Warch's hubby (s'ok if I mention this hon?), the real money is in residuals and royalties.

On the other hand, I think half a living at music is far better than half a living at anything else.
