Paper Crafts

I thought that since we were discussing rubber stamps in Bruce's thread, that I would post some of my artwork (In a separate thread so not to confuse folks).

If anyone else does papercrafts of any kind, feel free to participate.

If you'd like to know how to do something, let me know, and I'll share the instructions.

This is a greeting card I made for a friend's daughter's 7th birthday next month.

It's rubber stamped daisies and hearts that I cut out and mounted on pale rose card stock to look like balloons.

The inside lettering is an alphabet that I found in a scrapbook/stamping magazine. It's amazingly easy, and I am having MUCH fun with it.

(edited to correct link to show inside of card)

Those are really nicely done, Dag. We have a covener who makes some papercraft greeting cards/blank cards/etc.

Cooooool, Dag!
You realize, of course, the burden you put on the recipient. She can never throw that card away and since she's 7, that's a long, long time. 80 years from now, her husband will still be bitching about "that crap in the closet".

Hehe, yeah, she's going to be a dodad princess.....
But, I started a scrapbook for her when she was a baby, and her mom saves all of her birthday, Christmas, and Easter cards that I've made for her in it

When I was in elementary school, and Transformers were all the rage, I made paper transformers. I think only one of them survived (barely), but I'm not sure where it is.

I try to do everything by hand on my cards...

The one I just sent you is on my que to post today, but the inside is a bugger to scan - because of how it's done. That's a cut out template that you bend and fold certain ways.

It's a relaxing hobby...expensive and addicting, but relaxing

Dry Embossing

This is an example of Dry Embossing:

The sunburst was embossed on white cardstock, and then treated with chalks to look like marble. It was ripped to age it, and then mounted on a dark red card stock, and then on a white card. Gray and black chalks were rubbed on the card stock and the card to age the look some.

I couldn't really scan the inside of the card, because of what was used. A putty colored card stock was folded in half, and cut with a template that looks something like this:

(This is not the card that I sent out, but I think it's pretty cool!)

The sunburst template is Hero Arts, and the Just A Note Popup Template is courtesy of popuptemplates.com

Bruce,

You do realize you're in line for a card, don'tcha?

I figure it's the ONLY way I can be part of your dodaddiness

How do you find time to do all that?

I spend an hour or so a night playing with my stampie toys.
It helps me relax, and get my mind offa the crap that's going on.

And I am on some groups that we do swaps, so it's a good incentive to keep up.

Ohhh I love the popup!! I've done a fair amount of Origami (tho not as much now as I used to), and I've seen the books of popups designs and been tempted. But I've never bitten---I can take the complete paper and make something out of it, but once I've started chopping things up in always ends disastrously.

You'd be suprised at how easy that pop up is.

Card Stock, an Xacto knife, and a template.

Bang

Well, it's not Paper, but it's still a card!

My latest has been posted to my new Paperarts blog - which is sortingthoughts.us/InkyFingers

For those of you who don't care about the 'details' of how it was made, I'll post a scan

The card itself

The cover to its jewel case

Enjoy!
