need help

I'm researching the next game I want to get on XBOX, but before games like Spidey 2 and ssx3, i want to take advantage of the ONLY ON XBOX feature. I'm deciding between Ninja Gaiden and Chronicles of Riddick. Ninja Gaiden is supposed to be awesome but incredibly hard, while chronicles of riddick features stealth, and i'm not too fond of stealth. What should I get?

I've not played either, but you can probably go with "games based on movies suck."

Just get Ninja Gaiden. You talk about it enough.

Never underestimate the power of the rental. If in doubt, throw five bucks at it to use it for a week and then decide. I've rented both Ninja Gaiden and Riddick. I enjoyed both, did not complete either in the rental period, and bought neither.

Riddick is probably the best "movie franchise" game I've played, probably because it is based on a character, not an actual movie plot. Vin Diesel did all the original voicework for the game and that was cool. The story was pretty good and the graphics were outstanding. The major criticism I hear about Riddick is that it is way too short. I probably pumped 6 hours into it when I rented it and based on what I read on the internet about it later, I was about 3/4 of the way through.

Ninja Gaiden was also very cool, the major fault I saw with it was the fact that it kept becoming a "button masher." You have lots of special moves and combos, but when you are in the middle of six enemies you pretty much go apeshit with the contoller. Jump/attack jump/attack jump/attack. The game is also difficult, but to me that just increases the playtime and presents a nice challenge.

If I was going to buy one of the two games it would be Ninja Gaiden, mainly because the difficulty presents greater replay potential and the game seemd to be a lot longer. I'm not really sure how far I was into it, but it felt like approximately halfway, but that was the "normal" difficulty and I had played it a lot more than I did Riddick. I also read that they are going to be offering an expansion to NG on XBOX live as a free download. It looked fairly significant. I believe the article was in Game Informer a month or two ago.

If you are looking for a sneaking game and you aren't sure about Riddick, I would choose Thief: Deadly Shadows. That game is awesome and at one point takes a turn for the "scare the shit out of you." Very nice.

Actually is the exact opposite, i really hate stealth games, i just honestly was attracted to the intense violence aspect of Riddick because I love those sort of games.

I was actually surprised because indeed Chronicles of Riddick the movie was horrendous, but i heard Butcher bay was fabulous.

Well, there is actually a lot less "sneaking" in Riddick than you would expect, you do spend a lot of time on little side quests in some of the prisons, talking to people and fighting and that sort of thing.

Intense violence there do be. I loved grabbing guards from behind, snapping their necks, and shoving them to the ground. It never got old.

It is also quite entertaining to knock a guy out and then stomp him to death.

Good times.

I only have a lowly ps2.. which I love.. but one thing you might want to consider is renting the game... and if you have a snazzy little program called clone CD or clone dvd (and the prerequisite hardware).. uh not that I would recomend doing this of course... you could 'archive' them... or if you have a gamestop/electronics boutiqe nearby, they have tons of used games.. and they are more or less reasonable in the price department... with a pretty good returns policy

Well, its good to hear that Riddick isn't entirely sneaking around, that's why i would NEVER play games like Tenchu and Thief, no matter how good they may be. Ninja Gaiden has probably some of the best fighting and animation I've ever seen, but its' freakin hard. I'm usually great at video games, they are my life, but I can't get passed the second boss in this game. I'm making progress, but nothing seems to work, some day, I'll be a very happy person
