That ain't no website - that an MSN commiunity. That's like comparing cheerleading and saying its dance...

Love the pics tho. Erm is it me or isthere something myopic about 'edge of the world' being the first place in the states to see daylight.

Didn't see any more, it asked me for a passport ID.

Sycamore gets off his lazy ass and finally gets a domain name!

After having Sycamoreland for 4 years now, I figured it was finally time to do it some justice and get it a real website name, as opposed to the Tripod bullshit. Yes, it will still be hosted on Tripod, but at least it will have its own name now.

Sycamoreland.com should be up and running by the end of tomorrow.

You are definitely a goofball, syc. There is no doubt in my mind.

If you want to get rid of the popup shit (I honestly haven't managed my way to your page yet - I know, I really need to), I can host it for you. FTP access and all. Yaknow. Since you're cool and stuff.

That is beyond obvious. I am just so fucking stoked! I've wanted sycamoreland.com for like 3 years now...and I finally bought it. Not to mention, my own e-mail address.

First off, you not having been to my site...that is disappointing. It is my pride and joy.

I don't have the pop-up ads anymore...with Tripod, you can choose between that, or the embedded ad, which I go with (and seems to work a hell of a lot better). For $72 a year, I could have no ads at all.

Your offer is interesting, but I would have to give it some thought. That would mean me having to download an FTP client to manage my site (which I haven't used in ages). Truth be told, I don't mind Tripod. 50MB of space, an easy file manager, an easy upload system, no bandwidth charges. But it goes down too much for my liking (like right now). One time, it was down for like 4 days. Plus, I wouldn't have to have the address redirect to Tripod.

Hmmm...

nomonthlyfees.com - check it out. of course that would pretty much require downloading an ftp client (not a 'nix user, eh? ;-})

just a thought.

My system is pretty reliable, but we don't have an UPS on it, which sucks. We're working on that though. Otherwise, the connection is pretty good, and it's pretty fast. It's in Mississippi. Good little box. I host a lot of stuff there.

If you're happy with Tripod, then stick with that. Just saying that if you're *not*, I can take care of it for ya. Can even give you the email and all. But yeah, it does require ftp. *And*, you have to provide your own SMTP *server* - we don't run that there, to keep spammers out. It's not a problem for us, 'cause we all just use sendmail on our local boxes. I'll give you pop access, ftp, etc. But I can't do relaying...

It's another case of threat hijacking... we were originally talking about NBN's web site. And he's right, NBN's photos, which are nice BTW, have a .tif extension. But they're probably jpgs anyway - an uncompressed TIFF file can be huge.
