Need Hor Douvre Ideas!!!

I'm having 25 people over for Christmas Day and need ideas for hor douvres, hot and cold. I'm doing Lil smokies in jack Daniels BBQ sauce, have mini quiches, chicken on a stick with teryaki sauce, and pinwheels with cream cheese and ham. What else? I know you guys have some great ideas/recipes for party food---can you bust them out, one more time?

I like hot artichoke dip with slices of mini-baguette.

Bake some brie in filo dough.

Mixed nuts in a bowl are always nice.

scallops wrapped in bacon w/ toothpick. broiled.

potstickers

fried mozzarella sticks w/ tomato sauce

shrimp cocktail

ranch pita bread (take a pita bread, spread butter on it, and sprinkle ranch dressing powder all over it. slice into small wedges and broil til golden brown.)

Take a nice hearty loaf of bread, tear the middle out of it to make a bowl, fill the bowl with dip, and leave the torn out bread on the side for dipping. Rip another loaf of the same bread into little pieces for dipping. Then you will have enough bread.

these sound gross, but they are great. I don't know what they are called. Some kind of meat ball. Take one part sausage, one part grated cheddar cheese, and one part bisquick. Knead them together. Make small balls. Bake. Delicious. The recipe is probably on the box of bisquick.

That sounds yummy... for Plastic Forks I did smokies wrapped in bacon and baked in pineapple juice & brown sugar. People seemed to like them.

Are you serving a "meal"? Because if you are that sounds like enough appaetizers to me! But if you want/need more I'm a big fan of quesadillas and they make good finger food cut up into narrow slices.

Chicken Wings, bake 'em, bathe in (hot sauce + garlic powder + butter) sauce.

There's another sauce that's kind of sweet/sour but I'd have to ask pops for the ingredients.

Take sliced ham, smeer some cream cheeze on it, put some green onions on that ... roll it up and cut it into smaller rolls...

Or...spread the cream cheese on the slice of ham, put a dill pickle on it, roll it up and slice it.
(You do have to dab the ham dry for the cream cheese to stick).

That is a good one!

May I suggest:

Spinach dip in a bread bowl - dip being made from Knorr Vegetable Soup Mix.

Chedder Sausage meatballs - made with bisquick

Just wanted to throw this out there because I tried it on turkey day and everyone must've loved it since there were none left.

Fried polenta squares:
Make polenta, fridge it to firm up, cut into 1" squares (about half-inch thick). Pan fry on both sides until golden brown. Top with whatever. I made a shrimp mixture (chopped cooked shrimp, scallions, red pepper, jalapeno, scoop of mayo) and sprinkled shredded parmesan on top.

There is a barbecue forum that I lurk on occasionally, and it seems that their favorite appetizer is called an Atomic Buffalo Turd. People really seem to like them. I assume you could make them in the oven. Also - if you don't happen to have pulled pork handy (who doesn't?), I've seen where some people used chorizo, or some other kind of spicy/ seasoned meat.

Here's a copy & paste of the recipe:

Ingredients:
• 2 lb Jalapeno's - fresh 2 -3 inches each (approx 30 count)
• 2 8 ounce pack of Cream Cheese
• 2 lb Bacon (may not use all)
• 1.5 lb Pulled Pork

Preparation Directions:
• Wash, remove stems and half jalapeno's lengthwise. Only cut the stem off, don't cut the end of jalapeno off to remove the stem. Remove seeds and veins (leave veins in if you would like a hotter ABT).

Use left over pulled pork, or prepare a small shoulder (2lb) for this. Besides pulled pork you can use any meat. Hamburger, or wedges of italian sausage work well also.

Cut lengths of bacon strips just long enough to wrap around jalapeno half about twice.

Fill jalapeno halfs with cream cheese, top with a small amount of pulled pork and wrap the whole thing with a peice of bacon. I usually hold bacon on top of end of jalapeno and wrap around the middle and come back up over top at other end. Hold bacon ends in place with ½ toothpick each end.

Cooking Directions:
• Get cooker at 325deg steady. You are wanting to get bacon cooked without burning up the jalapeno's. I use a raised grid, and place the jalepeno's on a veggie rack allowing for easy removal when done.

Smoking these are even better. Maple wood and Hickory work well.

Allow 30 - 40 minutes for bacon to be done. Check them half way through and rearange as necessary to prevent any hot spots burning any.

Special Instructions:
• Cream cheese will not melt out unless the jalepeno is tipped over. After removing from grill let them set for about 10 minutes to let the bacon crispen up. Otherwise eat as soon as you are able to. Have a drink ready.

Bacon wrapped shimp are good. Veggies & dip are a staple, as are relish trays with olives, pickles, pickled beets & whatnot.

But people - we have managed to miss the obvious!! Deviled eggs!!!!
