The government makes noises and gestures in that direction (e.g., the Wall and the occasional big crackdowns reported in the news). Nothing effective will be done to capture and repatriate undocumented migrants, because the function of our country relies too heavily on them.

C'mon...it's going to make the state money in fines.....That's it. The bottom line. NY wants to hand out DUI's, traffic violations, and parking tickets. The more that drive legally the more that get fined. It's an untapped cash cow.
