"Can't we all just get along?"

I know we can. I know that conflict is inevitable, but it needn't be permanent, not in Iraq, not in my marriage, not on the cellar. There is peace to be had, if we would only give it to each other. Peace, like the right of way, cannot be seized, it can only be yielded. Like forgiveness, it can only be granted, not ordered. Like love, it can only be given, not taken.

And peace, like forgiveness and love, the more that is given away, the more one has.
