My first thought was that, much like a hotel carpet, the busy pattern serves to hide the stains.

This reflects my artistic aesthetic more than my opinion of full-body tattooing, however--I just like things that my brain can interpret, that's all. Too much crammed into one place without any apparent cohesiveness is not appealing to me. I have seen many tattoo sleeves or other large murals that I've liked.
