The loss of cultural material,(of course much of it perpetrated by museum staff -justfied as protection, or income, or probably both), was/is tragic. But I had/have a hard time getting too ruffled about it when people were/are dying. (I'm not sure of tense, 'cause numbers of past torture mounts and ongoing conflict keeps the death toll for all still rising.) In the realm of collateral damage, the loss of such treasures is sad but way farther down on the list of outrage.
