How I do the perfect hard boiled egg...without numbers! (Well, a few well counted minutes, but that's about it).
But X number of eggs in water to cover. Put them on the heat, and bring them to a boil. Let boil for 3 minutes, then turn the heat off and let them sit for 18 minutes. Perfectly boiled every time - and never a green yolk to be found.
