I am certain of nothing but of the holiness of the Heart's affections and the truth of Imagination --

Confirmation bias (also called confirmatory bias, myside bias or verification bias) is a tendency of people to favor information that confirms their beliefs or hypotheses.[Note 1][1] People display this bias when they gather or remember information selectively, or when they interpret it in a biased way. The effect is stronger for emotionally charged issues and for deeply entrenched beliefs.
Thank you!

Well, JB is kind of right. Fargon's answer is simple and it is coherent (until you start pushing for details).

Does it accurately represent reality? There is no evidence for this.

JBK has said that he is on a search for truth. I think that is not quite right. I think he is, like many people, searching for an answer. It must be understandable, it must be more or less coherent. It must enable him to say, Right, that's what's going on, which means I should live my life this way.

Whether it is true in the sense of corresponding to reality is optional. And given how horribly messy, complicated and unhuman reality seems to be, an answer which meets the psychological requirements listed above is very unlikely to be true.

What is it you want, JBK? "An" answer that will end the doubt and confusion and provide guidance and maybe even a feeling of satisfaction? Or "the truth", regardless of how lonely and desolate it might leave you feeling?

I think I have gone for the second option. A lonely and desolate universe is quite nice once you get used to the idea, an you're not constantly worried about the Giant Santa in the Sky commanding and judging you.

I just want a God I can have fun with. I'm an intellectual and often times I like to think up new Ideas and think outside the box. As long as I have a fighting chance of making it to heaven. (An that's why Jesus Died on the Cross) I'm gonna keep fighting the good fight. Jesus Died on the Cross to forgive US of our sins and I'm gonna respect it. Therefore I will turn form evil do good and live my life according to the standard Jesus set. You don't believe it, so I'm not gonna force it on you however "separation of church and state" was a guarantee to keep politics out of church not church out of politics. Where they messed up at was when they took prayer out of schools. Now the Country Is just so screwed in the head that an entire generation is suffering the repercussions of Godlessness. So where I come in is as a freelance renegade fighting for the children.

The first option then. A functional answer. Fair enough. Good luck.

How did the Pope and affections become same? Or did you mean a heart's infections? Can you die if the Pope infects your heart? Is that why religion kills so many people?

Could be worse. I could have god in my heart.

Does that mean I would feel like hell? And end up in heaven?
