Rabid Skunk
Under my next-door-neighbor's deck. Obviously we hope it isn't rabid, but all signs say yes.....
Who cares? no-one. She can't even get a paid service like Orkin to come and deal with it. The city/county/state is all "ooh ooh report any supected rabies incidents, we need to deal with it... but when you call animal control, they refer you to the humane society, who refer you to animal control....... yeah, you got it. My cat wants to deal with it. My neighbor scared her off. The stink has pervaded both of our houses. Grr. Not the first time either. My friend had one that died on her doorstep. Every single agency was agreed that it would be dealt with and equally convinced that would be done by another agency. ![]()

gun + bullet = problem solved. that's the southern way anyway.
aside from that you can get a live animal trap. na, bullet is easier. if it's rabid, then it's dealt with and put out of it's misery. live in an area of town where guns are frowned upon? use a 22 long rifle rifle. they're quiet enough. rubber sink gloves and a trash bag then dumpster or burn pile.

Best thing to do is drill a hole in the deck and then get somebody to stick their weenie in there.

Our local news often has dumb stories like this. They should call the local Fox affiliate. The reporters will come out and interview the neighbors, who can come up with good "worried neighbor" quotes to feed the reporters, and city hall might send out a crew to take care of things and shut everyone up.
