JB,

I don't think any of us have walked even a half mile in your shoes, so it's hard to know what you're dealing with inside your head. We can only go on what you post, and we can only react from the perspective we have.

I, personally, don't understand the religious obsession. I don't know if that's a derivative of your condition or your upbringing. I DO know that religion was created by man. To control other men. If you can't see that, you can't escape it.

All religion means to me is to "practice" and practice makes perfect.. the term religion seems to be becoming a catch phrase of false hood in the fact that no one wants to be considered "religious"... for me it's just an opportunity to unite all denominations under the umbrella of Christianity by saying I belong to the Religion of Christ. I dunno we can either unite as a people to destroy evil or we can unite as a people to save souls. Seeing what happen in England where everyone who didn't believe got beheaded I would per-fer to unite to "save souls". Pure Christian Religion is what I aim for.

Mark Twain writing about the Hawaiian legislature in 1866.
Quote:
The mental caliber of the Legislative Assembly is up to the average of such bodies the world over - and I wish it were a compliment to say it, but it is hardly so. I have seen a number of Legislatures, and there was a comfortable majority in each of them that knew just about enough to come in when it rained, and that was all. Few men of first class ability can afford to let their affairs go to ruin while they fool away their time in Legislatures for months on a stretch. Few such men care a straw for the small-beer distinction one is able to achieve in such a place. But your chattering, one-horse village lawyer likes it, and your solemn ass from the cow counties, who don't know the Constitution from the Lord's Prayer, enjoys it, and these you will always find in the Assembly - the one gabble, gabble, gabbling threadbare platitudes and "give-me-liberty-or-give me-death" buncombe from morning till night, and the other asleep, with his slab-soled brogans set up like a couple of grave-stones on the top of his desk.
The current crop of candidates seem to think the latter takes precedence.

This is one of those false associations I was telling you about. The "practice" of religion is not the same sort of "practice" of repetitive learning that approaches perfection.

None of us are perfect people, we never will be; don't beat yourself up about failing to be perfect.

Don't expect the practice of religion to make you perfect. Look at the behaviour of many devoutly religious people ... terrorism, murder, torture, gencide ...

Maintaining human sympathy is IMHO the best way to not be an evil prick.

Still historically inaccurate. Everyone? beheaded? etc.
It was much more about politics, power and control than about "Good" Vs "Evil". The "evil" bit was just the excuse for getting rid of enemies and rivals.

That's exactly my point. When you use God and Religion as a means to "control" without acknowledging that Heaven RULES and without the intent to 'save souls' then YOU ARE EVIL.

I used to save them, but ran out of places to keep them.
